Membership
FAQs
Q: Do I have to live in the Shadow Wood or Shadow Wood Preserve Community to be a member?
A: No, Membership at Shadow Wood does not require residency. The prices and privileges are exactly the same regardless of your address. However, we do give priority to residents over non-residents on the waiting list on a two-to-one basis.
Q: Is there a waiting list to join the club?
A: Yes, there is currently a waiting list to become a Full Golf member at Shadow Wood. We currently have a limited number of Golf-in-Waiting Memberships available. This membership category allows the member to play golf in season with one-day advanced tee times, plus all other full privileges at the Club. If you purchase a home from an active Golf member who plans on resigning at the time of closing then you could join as an immediate Golf member and bypass the waiting list.
Q: How will I meet other members when I join?
A: Every club will tell you they have “the friendliest members in town,” but at Shadow Wood, we take it a step further to assist you in meeting other members by assigning you a Club Ambassador. When you apply for membership we ask you to fill out a new member interest form. We use that information to pair you up with an Ambassador based on as many similar interests & demographics as possible to ensure a good match. Your Ambassador will help you get into golf games, invite you to join them at social events such as the Member-Mixer Happy Hour, and help you feel like you belong at Shadow Wood from your first day of membership. We also host 2 monthly new member events for you to get to know your fellow new members and explore all of the new amenities at the club.
Q: Are there food & beverage spending minimums?
A: No, Shadow Wood does not require any minimum spending at the club. We strive to offer a wide variety of dining experiences, frequent menu changes, and exciting social events to encourage you to choose to dine at the club!
Q: May I bring guests to the Club?
A: Yes, we hope you are proud to show off your club and we love welcoming your guests! Non-members are permitted as a golf guest, tennis guest, or social/club function guest a total of six times per calendar year inclusive of all club amenities, regardless of the number of hosting Members involved. Family guests are exempt from the limit of six guest visits. All guests must be accompanied by a Member.
Q: Does Shadow Wood offer reciprocal privileges during the summer months?
A: Yes, Shadow Wood Members enjoy golf, tennis, & dining privileges with over forty private clubs in Naples, Estero, Bonita Springs, and Fort Myers from May 1 until October 31. Please inquire for a current listing of participating reciprocal clubs and details.
Q: Can I try the Club before I join?
A: We understand that it is important to experience various aspects of the club before making a commitment. While we do not offer any formal preview type of membership, we do encourage you to play a round of golf with a member or join us for dining at the club prior to joining. This will allow you to experience the club from a member’s viewpoint and have a chance to interact with other club members. All prospective member experiences should be arranged through the Membership Director.
Q: Who is included on my membership?
A: The primary member, his/her spouse or designated user (spouse/significant other residing at the same address), and the unmarried children of either spouse under the age of 23, enjoy the club facilities on the same basis as the member.
Q: How are membership fees billed?
A: Membership dues are billed on an annual basis and prorated based on when you join. The initiation fee is due in full at the time of joining. For membership prices and fee structure, please contact the club.
